A Forward-Focused Approach to Healing

Traditional talk therapy can easily devolve into endlessly rehashing the past. My practice is built differently. We respect your history, but we do not camp out there. By integrating Narrative Therapy, Strategic Intervention, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, we work as an active team to reshape the dynamics of your life.

Narrative Imaging Therapy

We look at the dominant story you’ve been telling about yourself, deconstruct the scripts holding you back, and visually map out a preferred, empowered future.

Strategic & Solution-Focused

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) brings hope by shifting attention from past struggles to future possibilities, building momentum through strengths, exceptions, and clear goals. Strategic Therapy adds a brief, action-oriented focus on changing the cycles that keep you stuck.

Strength-Based Framework

You are not broken. You already possess intrinsic resilience; our job is to uncover and mobilize those strengths to resolve your current challenges efficiently.

Neurobiology

I help you understand how your emotional brain responds to
pressure, relationships, and generational messages-and how those responses shape your story.

Hi, I'm Sabita, and I'm glad you're here.

Strength-Based Solution-Focused Individual, Couples & Relationship Therapist in Chicago

For over two decades, I’ve helped individuals, couples, and high‑achieving professionals understand the deeper systems influencing their lives: attachment histories, generational narratives, cultural expectations, and the physiological responses that emerge when those systems are under strain. I developed Relational Narrative Imaging Therapy, a clinically structured method that helps you see the relational patterns shaping your identity, behavior, and emotional world. It gives you language, clarity, and direction—often in places where you’ve only felt confusion or overwhelm. My approach is warm, steady, and grounded in clinical rigor. You’ll feel supported, understood, and guided with precision, not judged or rushed. Together, we’ll create a clear, steady path toward meaningful change, grounded in insight, supported by evidence, and tailored to your life.

What clients say about the work

Individual Therapy

Sabita Nandy is a wonderful therapist. When I first started looking for a therapist, I wanted someone who was a good listener and who would give me sound and honest counseling. Boy did I hit the jackpot when I found Sabita.

T.W

Sabita, you are the one person who helped make me whole. You helped me achieve my dream of living a better life. You have no idea of how indebted I feel to you. You are My Shero!

D.G

My husband and I began seeing Sabita for marriage counseling. We were both so pleased with her insightfulness and ability to make real connections that we both chose to begin seeing her for individual counseling. We have both been seeing Sabita.

J.S

Sabita worked with us for a year and a half to resolve some pretty major problems in our first few years of marriage. I would probably not still be married if it wasn’t for her.

A.E

I was very skeptical about therapy and counseling. I am happy to say that my skepticism was wrong. Sabita was proactive, courteous, informative and extremely comforting.

K.L.D

The quality I enjoy most about Sabita is that she doesn’t solve your problems for you. Instead, she helped me see how I already had the skills to confront them.

A.A

When coping with the loss of my mother and a series of family life changes, Sabita was right there to help me deal with these unexpected challenges. Sabita is more than a therapist she is a miracle worker.

C.W

Before you book, you probably have questions.

Yes. I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, Aetna PPO, United Healthcare PPO, and Cigna PPO. Self-pay sessions are $180 for 60 minutes. If you’d prefer not to use insurance for confidentiality reasons, that’s a conversation we can have.

Absolutely. I provide secure online therapy for clients throughout Illinois, in addition to in-person sessions at my offices in Hyde Park and Downtown Chicago.

Most clients find meaningful resolution within six months. However, everyone’s journey is unique, and we’ll work at a pace that feels right for you.

That’s completely normal. Let’s start with a free consultation to talk through what you’re experiencing and explore whether therapy, and whether working with me, feels like the right fit.

My approach to therapy is Strength-based, solution-focused, systemic, trauma-informed, and rooted in narrative therapy, with an emphasis on helping clients understand family and generational influences while empowering them to move forward.
